Create your administrator account (so you can kick the newbies out)
The first thing you'll want to do when setting up your GameDaemons voice server is set up your Administrative Account. To set this up, access your kPanel. Once logged in, you'll see the "Users" option under your "Voice Services" menu. Click on "Users" then "Add." Be sure to flag the account as Administrative through the drop down menu.
Note: If you do not see the "Voice ports" submenu, you may need to log out and then back into our kPanel. To do this, press "End Session" at the bottom of the page and then log back in. *Closing the browser will not work*.

Customize your Server Settings
Next, you'll want to customize your server's settings, such as the Password, the Server name, and the Welcome Message. You can do this in your kPanel, in the "Voice Ports" submenu by clicking "Status" and then "Settings."
When changing the server name, be sure to keep it under 30 characters, as Ventrilo will crash if it is over.
GameDaemons recommends setting your "Authentication Mode" to "Global Password Authentication" so that you don't have to set up every person's individual account.
The password you select is very important as all of your users will know this, so be sure to select a password that is both secure and easy to remember.
At this point YOU MUST RESTART THE SERVER for your new changes to pick up.
Logging In
If you've just installed Ventrilo, the first thing you need to do is add a Username. Start by clicking the arrow to the right of the username field. ventsetup1.jpg
Click on "New" then type in your desired username and press "OK."
After your Username is set up, you'll need to add in the server you want to connect to.
Start by pressing the arrow to the right of the server field. Type out the name you want to give the server and press "OK."
You'll then need to enter the IP, port, and server password.
You're done! Just press connect to start talking.

Press to Talk: Revoke the Reverb.
Voice activation on a busy server can be down right annoying. It can lead to some VERY ridiculous echoing. To solve this problem, every one on your server should turn on "Use Push to Talk Hot Key." To do this, go to "Setup" then select "Use Push to Talk Hot Key," you'll then need to set up the hot key you wish to use. To do this, click in the hot key field and press the button you wish to use. Make sure it is not set to mouse1. If it is, just press the bind you wish to use again. If you have a "thumb button" on your mouse, this is an excellent choice.
Admin stuff
To access the Admin Menu you will need to be connected to the server. Once connect, right click on your server name in the channel menu, then select admin menu.
